In 2002, I took a year off and travelled solo around the world for nine months, which was life transforming. I was drawn towards different directions, aspiring at finding a more fulfilled and meaningful life geared towards wellness and balance. I have been fully dedicated to that purpose since then.
I have very much been drawn towards Traditional Chinese Medicine and its approach to health, as well as Naturopathy, and considered going back to school to earn my ND degree and/or my acupuncture license. I was able to complete the Science prerequisites for these programmes but couldn’t afford the tremendous cost of the full studies, unfortunately. I, however, pursued my education in this area, and besides self-study, I have kept attending seminars and workshops in this field, including Western and Chinese nutrition, herbalism and aromatherapy. This set me on the path of holistic health, yoga and meditation, and took me on a powerful journey of healing and self-growth.
Since 2010, I have earned my Yoga teacher certification (2014) and specialized in Yin Yoga, restorative yoga and trauma-informed yoga. I have built a strong daily practice and attended over 300 hours in additional continuous training. Between 2014 and 2018, I taught yoga and meditation privately and at a few recovery centers. I trained as a Mindfulness Meditation Instructor at Naropa University, CO in 2015 and 2016 with Dale Asrael.
As for my tea journey, it started in 2003 in Victoria, BC when I was introduced to Gong Fu Cha brewing by a Chinese tea master. I was fascinated by the variety of fragrances a single plant could deliver. I also felt the ritual of the tea ceremony particularly aligned with my meditation practice and a source of profound peace and meaning. This mindful practice, connecting body and mind, myself and the world, has become an inseparable companion to my daily morning meditation practice, as well as a precious way of finding stillness, nurturing and comfort in daily life. I have studied and practiced for over 15 years, attending various tea schools (including Camellia Sinensis in Montréal, Le Palais des Thés in Paris and seminars from the World Tea Academy) and as many tea tasting workshops I could, and I enrolled in the Tea Sommelier Professional Training. I received my certification from the Tea Association of Canada in 2016.
